Blessing Through Faith

Shalom from Jerusalem! Today, I want to explore the true meaning of blessing. A blessing isn’t health or finances, nor houses or cars, nor even money in the bank account. All these things are simply results of blessing. If you think finances or health alone constitute blessing, you’re missing the deeper truth. True blessing is far greater than what the human mind can conceive.
Why, then, have people always fought fiercely over blessings? Scripture shows that blessings were transferred through the laying on of hands from father to son. Consider the stories of Ishmael and Isaac, Esau and Jacob—these were battles over a spiritual reality that surpasses our comprehension. Living on earth, with many pressing needs, people often confuse the external signs of blessing with blessing itself.
The Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Ephesians: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 1:3). We must grasp that blessing is fundamentally spiritual. Everything manifested in the physical realm originates from the spiritual realm. That’s why Christ, by sacrificing His life, united heaven and earth and gave us authority, declaring: “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).
The Jewish people say that whatever happens to you on earth also happens to your angel in heaven. At the same time, blessing originates in the spiritual realm before becoming visible in the physical. “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible” (Hebrews 11:3).
We must renew our minds through God’s Word, ceasing to seek primarily money or health, but first and foremost seeking God’s presence. Only then will God grant us the “spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17). Jesus came so that sinners would become righteous, the sick would be healed, and the poor would prosper. However, these blessings should not be our primary pursuit but rather the natural outcomes of our search for God Himself.
Jesus says: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). This verse reveals that blessings flow from the Father to His children through Christ. We approach God not as beggars but as His children, receiving spiritual inheritance. The patriarchs laid hands on their children, bestowing upon them spiritual anointing capable of making the impossible possible.
Consider the parable of the prodigal son: one son left home and squandered everything his father gave him, ending up destitute, while the other remained at home without truly understanding his father’s heart, living more like a hired servant. Blessing is deeply tied to understanding the Father’s heart—His love and mercy. When the prodigal returned with repentance, the father warmly welcomed him, restoring his position by giving him a ring, robe, and sandals, demonstrating genuine blessing.
Often, we serve God expecting something in return, forgetting that serving Him is already the greatest blessing. Those unfamiliar with God’s grace constantly beg for blessings, failing to realize that the Father has already declared: “All that is mine is yours”.
True blessing encompasses righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. If a person lacks joy, it’s because they lack peace; and if they lack peace, it’s because they don’t understand their righteousness in Christ. You can possess everything materially but without these three elements, you’re not genuinely living a blessed life.
A father’s blessing surpasses all others because it nullifies every curse. David expressed this truth succinctly: “Let them curse, but you will bless” (Psalm 109:28). A father’s blessing holds exceptional power.
Our service to God isn’t about what we might receive in return but fulfilling our divine purpose, passing on a spiritual legacy to future generations. God created us to live for us, granting us His Kingdom.
Even if we don’t currently see tangible signs of blessing, maintaining our faith is essential. Faith is the channel through which blessing becomes evident in our lives. Jesus declared: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). This promise belongs to everyone who believes and trusts God.
Therefore, continue believing, regardless of circumstances, and God will surely fulfill everything He has promised.
